YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH

I was once asked by someone whether ‘what was happening in the world affected my faith?’ It was a good question, a tough question but I was thankful for it all the same.
It has been a few years since that question was asked to me and yet as I look at what is going on in the world currently, it seems perhaps just as apt.
If we look at the world from purely an earthly point of view then perhaps it can seem a bit overwhelming, bleak, troubled, concerning and a whole host of words that would eat too much into this word count. We may have many questions and yet few answers.
But that I believe is where faith comes in. Faith allows us to have a bigger picture theology that though storms may rage, we can be calm. Though troubles may arise, we can be stilled. Though pain and hurt may come, we can be comforted. Why?
Well because the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is our God and His promises are ‘yes’ and ‘amen!’ He was, is and will always be faithful to his children. In the book of Hebrews, we read these tremendously encouraging words, ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.’ (Hebrews 13:8)
He was there at the beginning, He is with us now and He will be there at the end! Whatever we are facing, He is still that same God and his ‘faithfulness continues through all generations.’ (Psalm 100:5).
