About Us
Who We Are
Welcome to TIMC. We’re a friendly, all-ages church who love to gather, worship, and share life together. Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church, or just curious, you’re very welcome here.
Take a look around - and if you’re nearby, we’d love to meet you on a Sunday or at one of our upcoming events.
Our History
People have been gathering in Tyldesley, a small town in the North West of England, under the umbrella of Independent Methodism for over 120 years. Initially people met in a hired room in Mr Markland's building on the main square which was rented for the year at a cost of £10. From these humble beginnings a church grew, which had only been in existence for about 6 months before they began to consider a new building. A decision was made to 'build' in 1891 and the opening service was held in 1893.

What We Believe
At TIMC, we believe in the love of God revealed through Jesus Christ and the transformative power of His Word. We aim to create a space where people can explore faith, ask questions, and grow in understanding. We believe in the importance of worship, prayer, and community, and that God calls us to serve others, share hope, and make a positive difference in the world.

Local Mission
We love serving our local community and believe that small acts of connection can make a big difference. Through events like afternoon teas, coffee mornings, family fun events, and seasonal gatherings, we aim to create welcoming spaces where people can meet, share, and feel valued. Our local mission is about building relationships, showing God’s love in practical ways, and being a friendly presence in the heart of our neighbourhood.

Independent Methodist Connexion
TIMC is part of the Independent Methodist Connexion, a network of churches that values both the freedom of local congregations and the shared mission of spreading the gospel. Being part of this Connexion means we are connected to a wider community of churches that share our commitment to worship, discipleship, and service, while maintaining our independence to respond to the needs of our local community.

Our Friends & Associations
We are proud to stand alongside and support our wonderful friends and associations, both locally and globally. From feeding our neighbours at the local foodbank to sharing hope through organisations like Scripture Union, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Operation Mobilisation, The Message Trust, and Asia Link, we are stronger together in faith and action.
