THERE IS A GREEN HILL FAR AWAY

WRITTEN BY: Cecil Frances Alexander in 1848

"There is a green hill far away" is a renowned Christian hymn. Inspired by a hill near Cecil Frances Alexander's home in Londonderry, Ireland, she wanted to explain the crucifixion of Jesus Christ to children. It is famously paired with the tune "Horsley".

He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross! Philippians 2:8
