PEACE

We are living in hard times with wars, rising costs and energy bills and so many other things causing so much uncertainty and fear in the world today. Yet, Jesus offers hope in the midst of all that uncertainty.

In one of the conversations He had with His disciples before He died, Jesus declared, “Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14 v 27).

Jesus made the point that His peace was different from that of the world. From the world’s point of view, peace is the absence of problems and hostility. Yet throughout scripture, it is clear that the word used for peace means so much more. It speaks of wholeness, completeness, soundness, oneness with God and carries with it the implication of permanence. It is a peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4 v 7).

Whatever you may be facing or experiencing today, may God speak peace into your heart and may you experience that peace that passes all understanding that only the Lord can give. May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way (2 Thessalonians 3 v 16). Amen.
