There is a quote attributed to John Lennon;

“Life is what happens when you are making other plans”

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”. John 14:27.

“PEACE” as the world gives it, is a state of quiet; free from disturbance; freedom from war; freedom from contention; ease of mind or conscience; tranquillity; stillness; silence. All of them are affected by the circumstances that are being experienced at the time.

Jesus said, “I do not give as the world gives”.

“PEACE” a common Hebrew greeting, used in an unusual way by Jesus. The Hebrew word “Shalom” has a much deeper meaning than our English translation “Peace”. SHALOM speaks in effect of the salvation that Christ’s redemptive work will achieve for His disciples. Total well-being and inner rest of spirit, in fellowship with God. All true peace is His gift, which the repetition emphasises, “My peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives”.

In the greeting of peace, the world can only express a longing for or wish. Jesus’ shalom is real and present no matter what the circumstances are that you are in.

Peace does not come to those who refuse it, but to those who receive it when they receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
