I TRUST IN YOU

Corrie Ten Boom once wrote ‘Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength.’
You know no one goes through life without facing problems, battles and causes for worry.
David was a man who faced many difficulties in his life and in Psalm 55 he writes of one such occasion. His companion, his close friend (Psalm 55 v 13) with whom he had once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God as they walked among the worshippers (Psalm 55 v 14) had turned against him and joined the many who opposed him (Psalm 55 v 18). A decision that he found extremely hard to take. Yet in the midst of facing that problem, David resolved to turn to God and cry out to him –
As for me, I call to God and the Lord saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
Psalm 55 v 16-17
David chose to turn to the Lord and in doing so he experienced God’s peace as he writes ‘he has redeemed my life in peace from the battle that was against me (Psalm 55 v 18 Amplified Bible). From everything that he went through, anointed by the Holy Spirit, David could declare ‘Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you’.
We, like David, have a heavenly Father who cares for us deeply and the exhortation in scripture is to cast our cares on Him. As each one of us face the worries, battles, and disappointments of life, may we not allow them to overwhelm us. But may we like David, turn to the Lord, cast our burdens on him and then say, ‘as for me, I trust in you’ (Psalm 55 v23).
