Build your Life On Jesus The Rock

Matthew 7: 24-27

Parables are stories which take something ordinary and use it as pictures about spiritual things.  Jesus often used parables to teach people (including us) about spiritual things.  One parable Jesus told was about two builders.  In the bible it is called 'The Wise and Foolish Builders'.

The parable tells us about the foundation of a house and that lives built according to God's ways are more likely to stand firm in tough times, in times of trouble, in storms.  The wise man built his house on the rock and when the rain and storms came, it stood firm.  The foolish man built his house on the sand and when the rain and storms came, it collapsed.

Jesus told this parable to show how important it is to follow his example, to listen to His words, to do what He says and to live God's way.  It gives a firm foundation on how to live, just as the rock provided a strong firm foundation for the house.

Sometimes it is hard to listen to someone we don't know very well, that is why it is so important to ask Jesus to be our Personal Saviour, to be our Lord and Friend.  We can get to know Him in a personal way and listen to Him by praying, reading the bible and following His way.  We can do this by asking Him into our hearts.

Will you be like the wise builder and ask Jesus into your heart, so you have a strong foundation in your life, so when life's storms gather you will stand strong and listen and do what Jesus says, because He is with you - or will you be like the foolish builder?  What is your life built on?  If you ask Jesus to be your Personal Saviour it will be built on the Rock and you will stand firm.

If you have not asked Jesus to be your Personal Saviour yet and you want Him to be and you want to build your life on Christ the solid Rock, then say this prayer and if you mean it - tell someone afterwards what you have done.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, I know I have done many things wrong in my thoughts, words and actions.  There are so many good things I have not done.  I am sorry for the wrong things (sins) I have done and I turn from everything I know to be wrong.  You gave Your life on the cross for me - Thank You.  I want to accept your offer of forgiveness.  I ask you to come into my life. Please come in as my Saviour, Lord and Friend and I will serve you all the remaining years of my life.  Thank you Lord Jesus

Amen
